United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

This was ratified by Kenya on 19th May 2008 and it aims to ensure that disabled people enjoy the same human rights as everyone else and that they can participate fully in society by receiving the same opportunities as others

Protocol to the African Charter on Humans and People’s Rights on the Rights of Persons With Disabilities

This protocol was adopted by the 30th ordinary session of the Assembly of Heads of State on 29th January 2018 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It recognizes the rights and freedoms of persons with disabilities as well as provides for duties of persons with disabilities.

ILO Discrimination (Employment and Occupation) Convention, 1958 (No. 111)

This is one of the eight fundamental conventions of the ILO and it was ratified by Kenya on 7th May 2001. The convention aims to ensure equality of opportunity and treatment in respect of employment and occupation with a view of eliminating any discrimination thereof.
