KBDN holds 2021 annual meeting and elects its Steering Committee

On 10 December 2021, the KBDN held its annual meeting, in which it elected Safaricom as its Chair, Signs Media Kenya as 1st Vice-Chair and United Disabled Persons of Kenya (UDPK) as 2nd Vice-Chair. Further, Coca-Cola Beverages Africa-Kenya, Nyali Capital Ltd, eKitabu, Stepwise and Sightsavers were elected to serve in the KBDN Steering Committee.

The Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE) presented the KBDN annual report to the meeting participants.

KBDN members agreed on the following priorities for 2022:

  1. More trainings for senior leadership and staff sensitization to ensure the respect and promotion of the rights for persons with disabilities.
  2. Support in recruiting persons with disabilities who are job-ready including on acquiring soft skills. Further, members to map out which skills they are looking out for in order to aid matching.
  3. All members to ensure they self-assess using the KBDN self-assessment tool and undergo physical accessibility audits to ensure they are ready for persons with disabilities.
  4. The KBDN to develop a joint workplan that would enable members to hold each other to account.
