Kenya Business and Disability Network Meeting, 28th April 2021

The Federation of Kenya Employers’ Kenya Business and Disability Network held its first virtual meeting of 2021 on 28th April. Members were updated on the intensive work that FKE’s KBDN has been supporting in disability inclusion during the past quarter, working with associates such as Leonard Cheshire Disability, CBM, Association of the Physically Disabled of Kenya and Action Network for the Disabled of Kenya to reach out to employers in Mombasa, Kisumu and Nairobi on various topical issues such as disability assessments and linkages to employment ready persons with disabilities. Members were also updated on current initiatives such as the inclusive employer awards scheme and the best inclusion practices publication.

The KBDN celebrated Greif Kenya Ltd, the newest member from Mombasa who has committed to the network and its inclusion principles.

Further, Nyali Capital Ltd, the first KBDN member from Mombasa, through their CEO, Wanjiku Wambugu shared their impressive disability inclusion practices in the financial sector and how they are working with Light for the World, a KBDN associate to increase their disability confidence.

Finally, Leonard Cheshire, through their Inclusion Officer, Regina Mwangi, shared with members their intention to develop e-learning modules that employers can easily access to meet their disability inclusion training needs.

The meeting was moderated by William Wandera from the Federation of Kenya employers.
