Launch of the Kenya Business and Disability Network
The Kenya Business and Disability Network was launched on 19th November 2020 during the second day of the Employers’ Annual Conference, organized by the Federation of Kenya Employers(FKE). Speakers at the launch urged more employers to join the network so as to ensure that the private sector is truly inclusive of persons with disabilities.
The Kenya Business and Disability Network had its September meeting on 2nd October 2020 where the agenda focused on the new membership commitment form and the proposed virtual launch date of the Network. The meeting was hosted by the Federation of Kenya Employers with support from ILO.
The Federation of Kenya Employers’ Kenya Business and Disability Network held its first meeting of 2021 on 28th April. Members were updated on the activities that the network has been supporting in the first quarter and current ongoing activities including the development of an awards scheme and the best practices publication, Nyali Capital through its CEO shared its inclusion practices and Leonard Cheshire Disability introduced its new initiative, the e-learning modules for employer.
FKE’s Kenya Business and Disability Network Human Resource Forum
The FKE’s KBDN held its first Human Resource Forum with a targeted audience of HR Practitioners, Senior Managers and OSH Managers where a comprehensive discussion on what disability inclusion means was had, and experts in the field, both from the employers’ side and disability inclusion experts shared their insights.
